Our Purpose
Faculty at Rutgers University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Texas at Austin and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are working with high school teachers to encourage their students to participate in genuine molecular biology research in the classroom. A video of an overview of the WSSP can be found here.

Announcements

9/28/11 The server that runs DSAP will be down several hours on the morning of Thursday Sept 29, 2011. It shoudl be running by 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

8/24/11 WSSP has a Facebook Page! If you are a current or former student in the WSSP, please friend us on Facebook at WSSP Waksman-Scholars.

8/18/11 Sequences of clones analyzed in 2010 are now being posted on NCBI! Please look at the Published Wolffia DNA Sequences link for the list of clones from your school for your clone. Please note that many of the sequence files are still being processed and submitted.

8/18/11 We have created videos for all of the lab modules. For more information click here.

6/5/11 Several schools created physical models of proteins that are homologous to the Artemia protein coded by the genes they identified. See the SMART Protein Structure Modeling link for more information and pictures on the structures that were made for the 2010-2011 Poster Forum. We thank Tim Herman, Margaret Franzen, and Mark Hoelzer from the Milwaukee School of Engineering Center for Biomolecular Modeling for creating the models with the scripts generated by the students.

9/27/10 We have posted a WSSP alumni survey. Please tell us a little bit about what you have been up to! Click here to take survey

4/27/10 We have started publishing some of the clones that have been analyzed this spring! See the Published clone page in the 09/10 Research Project Link to see if your clone has been submitted yet. Please note that sequences that code for proteins take 4-6 weeks to be posted after they have been submitted to NCBI. Make sure that you have completed the Post test and submitted your Parental Release Form or we can not submit your clone.

3/16/10 Thank you to all the students and teachers that attended the Academic Follow Up Meeting on March 5. The presentation by Dr. Jean Wang from the Rutgers Duckweed Stock Center has been posted on the Research Project files page. We thank her for giving a great talk.

3/6/09 WGBH has made a video of the WSSP HiGene project! To see the video connect here!
