This page provides a collection
of some popular molecular biology links. They serve as a "first-aid
kit" for students and teachers participating in the Waksman Student
Scholars Program.
Entrez Nucleotides "Search for sequences available in NIH GeneBank by accession number,
author name, organism, gene/protein name, and a variety of other text terms."
BLAST Retrieve DNA or amino acid sequence records from NIH GeneBank that are similar to ones that you submit.
Swiss-Prot An annotated protein sequence database.
PDB The most popular 3-D macromolecular structure database. A mirror site is available at Rutgers University: http://rutgers.rcsb.org/pdb/.
Vector Database "Contains annotations and sequence information for many vectors commonly used in molecular biology."
PubMed "Search service that provides access to over 10 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases, with links to participating online journals."
REBASE A restriction endonuclease database.
On-line analysis and calculating tools
Seq Web at Waksman Institute, Rutgers University. A comprehensive on-line program for nucleic acid and peptide sequences analysis and comparison.
Peptide Mass. Calculates molecular mass and theoretical isoelectric point of a peptide quiery.
Webcutter. Builds a restriction map of a nucleic acid sequence submitted.
Centrifuge Helper. Contains features of all rotor types and calculates RCF (x g) from speed (RPM).
Biopolymer Calculator. Determines molecular mass and annealing temperature for PCR primers.
Software for free download
RasMolChimeChromas A Windows application which displays and prints chromatogram files (waveforms) from ABI automated DNA sequencers.
Editview DNA Sequence Viewer. Same as above, for MAC users.
