Waksman Student Scholar Program
C. remanei cDNA sequence Files
This links below are to DNA sequence files to be analyzed by participants of the Waksman Student Scholars Program - 2004.
WSSP-04 Summer Institute Sequences - 1st round
These are DNA sequences generated during the first round of sequencing in the WSSP-04 Summer Institute. The DNA sequences were generated from clones that were isolated from the C. remanei cDNA libraries. Only students that generated these sequences will be able to submit them to the Database Submission Form. Please do not submit other student's sequences.
WSSP-04 Academic Year Sequences - 1st round
These are DNA sequences were generated from clones that were analyzed at the high schools during the academic year by restriction mapping and determining the size of the insert of clones isolated at the WSSP-04 Summer Institute. Please only download and analyze sequences that were generated by the teachers and students from your school.
WSSP-04 Academic Year Sequences - 2nd round (New as of 5/12/05!)
These are DNA sequences were generated from clones that were analyzed at the high schools during the academic year by restriction mapping and determining the size of the insert of clones isolated at the WSSP-04 Summer Institute. Please only download and analyze sequences that were generated by the teachers and students from your school.
694:315 Spring 2004 DNA Sequence Files
These are DNA sequences generated by the Rutgers University Introduction to Research in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry undergraduate course (694/447:315) during the Spring 2004 semester. The DNA sequences were generated from clones that were isolated from the same C. remanei cDNA libraries used in the WSSP-04 program. Many of these sequences have not been analyzed. WSSP-04 students that wish to analyze a sequence and submit it to be deposited in the database will sign in and be given a different sequence at random. Individual students may not work on sequences from more than three clones at one time. Once a sequence has been submitted to the Database Submission Form the student will be able to obtain additional sequences for analysis.

Parental Release Form: Please have your teacher and a parent/guardian sign it and send it Sue Coletta. We will be unable to submit your sequences to NCBI without this signed release form.
Homework before the WSSP-04 12/3/04 Meeting:
Download the following two waveform files and analyze the sequences using the steps outlined in the WSSP sequence submission form. These aer the 5'EX and 3'EX sequences for the same clone (13C-5). Students that register on the sequence form and process the sequences through Step 14 will be eligible to complete in the Clicker Competition. After you have completed Step 14 perform a BLASTX at NCBI with the 13C-5 sequence to find out what type of protein it codes for. (For help with the BLASTX procedure and finding out the function of the protein connect to the HelpII and HelpIII links in the Waksman Challenge)
(Mac users should download the sequences by pressing Control, clicking on the sequence, and then selecting the Download Link to Disk option in the menu)
