DNA Clone and Sequence Files

For the WSSP we will use the following convention for naming clones: Your school #, your Initials, your clone number and then “.09” for the year.   For example, if you are from Bayonne and your initials are WS, then your clones would be labeled 1WS1.09, 1WS2.09, 1WS3.09 etc.

Please enter all of your clone names, DNA location, dates prepped, analyzed and sequenced into the Clone Report Sheet for your school (below). Click here to download a blank clone sheet (xls). We can not sequence your clones without an up-todate clone report sheet.

Please send us a Powerpoint file of ALL the gels from your school. Use this ppt file as a template for mocking up your gels. GelMockup.ppt

NOTE!! All practice clones and new clones are now downloaded through the DSAP Program!!! You must log onto DSAP to be able to download the clones. Practice clones PC1 to PC4 must be completed before starting you own clones.

Lecture Example Sequences- These areDNA sequence files that were used in the example sequences in the lecture notes. These can also be downloaded on the DSAP program.

Parental Release Form: (pdf) (doc)Please have your teacher and a parent/guardian sign it and send it Sue Coletta. We will be unable to submit your sequences to NCBI without this signed release form.

You should cite the sequence files as publications in your resume/CV.  A good way to cite this sequence file would be:

1. Artemia franciscana clone 0NM97.05 chitinase mRNA, partial cds., Kuklov,V., Sanelli,A., Vershon,A.K. and Nemeroff,M.E., NCBI, March 19, 2008.  Accession # EU251051
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/viewer.fcgi?db=nuccore&id=169931064

In addition, you may also have a protein sequence file.  You can find the link to this report in the /protein_id= section of the DNA sequence report. Be sure to cite it as well.

2. chitinase [Artemia franciscana].  Kuklov,V., Sanelli,A., Vershon,A.K. and Nemeroff,M.E., NCBI, March 19, 2008. Accession # ACB05773
