Supplies and Equipment List
Each school will initially be provided with the following supplies and equipment. Schools with larger groups of participating students will receive more supplies. In addition, each school will receive fresh supplies during monthly follow-up lab meetings at the Waksman Institute. Save your biohazrardous trash in a plastic bag and bring it back to Rutgers at the next meeting for proper disposal.
1. (1) lin-2 Worms plate seeded with OP50 bacteria (Store upside-down at room temp.)
2. Bacteria and Worm Plates (store all plates upside-down in a 4oC refrigerator):
(1) OP50 culture plate (LB)
(1) Human cDNA Library culture plate (LB+ampicillin)
(1) pos-1 culture plate (LB+ampicillin+tetracycline)
(1) TriplEx culture plate (LB+ampicillin)
(6) EZ Worm plates
(20) IPTG Worm plates (labeled by a blue marker stripe on either side)
3. (1) Tube of 100 mg/ml Ampicillin (store at –20oC or 4oC)
4. (50) Sterile snap-cap tubes
5. (2) Tubes of sterile wooden sticks for inoculation (at least 30)
6. (10) Sterile 10-ml pipets
7. (5) Sterile 50-ml freestanding tubes
8. (2) Tubes of sterile LB broth (approx. 25 ml each)
9. (1) Box of sterile yellow pipetman tips for P-20 and P-200
10. (1) Worm pick for manipulating worms
11. (1) Dissecting microscope
